An American dream

To day was the first day of my best summer ever. I landed on John. F. Kennedy airport in New York City this morning. It was a long flight, eight hours beside a young couple with they’re new born baby. But when I first got in a yellow cab and could see the skyscrapers in front of me, I forgot all about the eight long flight with the crying baby and the snoring man who sat behide me.

The city is one of a kind. I have been here before, but no other place in the world can you find so many different people and cultures melted together. What I love about the city is that you can find everything here, from millionaires to homeless, Upper east side to China town, and the best; The city NEVER SLEEPS! This is what fascinates me; the high buildings, the people and the unique atmosphere.

NYC is the biggest city in the Unites States with over 8,5 million inhibitions, surprisingly its not the capital. The capital of America is Washington D.C.

I have only one day here in NYC so I have to experience the whole city, and all the things it has to offer in only a few hours, but I think I can get a bite of the big apple anyway.

The first thing I did was going to the Empire State Building. It is the highest building in NYC. It’s 381 meters high and has 102 floors, 6500 windows and 73 elevators. Empire State Building was finished in 1931 and was then the first building with over 100 floors and the high building in the world. But it hasn’t always been the tallest building in town. Before September 11th 2001 World Trade Center was the tallest building in town, but after the terror attack Empire State Building is the highest building in town again.

It was a hot summer day so I was headed to a café fore a cold drink and some lunch. While I was waking in the streets down town, a policeman tells me that the street was closed because they were shooting a movie. I know at many movies and TV series took place inn NYC, actually there are over 100 different movies and TV series recorded in the city at anytime. But after a while I realized that this wasn’t any movie they were shooting when I see George Clooney waking down the street with the whole film crew with him. George Clooney is one of the biggest stars on earth, so it was kind of cool.

Now I’m going out for dinner and then later to Times Square, before I leave for Boston tomorrow.
